I like to start my day with a cup of hot lemon, ginger, and honey. The warmth of the cup in my hands, the bright tang of lemon, the gentle bite of ginger, and the soft sweetness of honey - it’s a small ritual that wakes me up slowly and grounds me for the day ahead.
This simple drink does more than just taste lovely. Lemon is naturally rich in vitamin C, supporting the immune system and helping protect the skin. Ginger warms and soothes, aiding digestion, and honey adds gentle sweetness and comfort. Together, they help me feel balanced, calm, and ready, even on busy winter mornings.
Lemon for health
Lemon isn’t just a morning pick-me-up - it also gently supports digestion. Warm lemon water can stimulate saliva and digestive enzymes, helping the body process food more easily and start the day feeling light and energised.
Lemon for beauty
Lemon’s benefits extend to the skin too. Its antioxidants help protect and brighten, and in Ayurvedic practice, citrus is considered cleansing and balancing. Even small rituals like noticing the scent of lemon while washing your hands can subtly refresh the mind and body. The bright, uplifting aroma also interacts with the limbic system the part of the brain that controls memory and emotion, bringing a natural sense of calm and, often, comforting memories.
Memories and rituals
This ritual also brings back fond memories of my childhood. I remember my mum adding sliced lemons into her bath water, in her tea, and squeezing it on to so many Indian dishes. The fresh, citrus scent filling the room and creating moments of calm. That memory reminds me that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated, sometimes, it’s just a small sensory experience that nourishes both body and mind.
Lemon in Indian and Ayurvedic tradition
In Indian kitchens and Ayurvedic wellness practices, lemon has long been celebrated for its ability to support digestion, cleanse, and uplift. Citrus is balancing, especially during colder months, and is often used in home remedies, teas, and rituals. Warming, bright, and slightly sour, lemon can restore energy and help bring clarity to both body and mind.
Bringing citrus into your home
I love bringing this bright, uplifting energy into my home and self-care routines. That’s why we include lemon in our soaps, bath and shower oils, Face oil and many other products. Lemon is naturally cleansing, brightening, and refreshing, helping awaken the senses and leave skin feeling soft and revitalised. Citrus aromas, like those in our products, can also reduce stress and improve mood, making small daily rituals feel grounding and joyful.
Even little moments, a deep inhale of citrus while washing your hands, or a gentle mist in the room, can signal to the nervous system that it’s safe to relax and be present.
A gentle invitation
I encourage you to try a morning lemon ritual, however simple: a warm cup, a few slices in water, or a gentle citrus scent in your bath or around the home. These small sensory rituals, rooted in intention and awareness, support health, beauty, and wellbeing, and help you feel balanced during busy weeks.
With love,

I love lemon and having a Spanish Mediterranean background, this citric, along with oranges, has always been present in my life. Living in Spain I was able to pick the fruit straight from the tree and wander in amongst the lemon groves. A hot lemon, honey, ginger and turmeric every is part of my every day morning ritual.
